No Cameras In Tim’s

What is with the woman behind the counter at Tim’s telling me they don’t allow cameras in the stores? That’s just not steeped man.

So I just wrote their customer service the following email:

Yesterday I swung into the Tim Hortons location at 111 Carlton for a pack of timbits. I’d just gotten off the streetcar, and was on my way to Allen Gardens to take some photographs in the green houses.
I had my digital camera in hand, and it was on, when I walked into the location. The woman behind the counter immediately, and I mean IMMEDIATELY, told me “you can’t be in here with a camera”.

Now I’m assuming she meant I had to put my camera away, not that I had to leave. I was surprised, both by the statement and the emphatic nature with which it was delivered. I turned off my camera, put it away, ordered by timbits and went on my way.

My question to you: Is this a company wide policy that cameras are not allowed in Tim Hortons?

I await their response.

[Note: After about 2 weeks finally got full resolution over the phone – read more here.]

In the meantime, I’ve asked the Toronto Bloggers on Flickr.com to discusss their experiences with other unexpected camera restrictions: http://www.flickr.com/groups/torontobloggers/discuss/87776/

Seriously. That is so short-sited of them.
There could be a whole TimMeme on Flickr – ’cause it’s just that kind of company. Or at least, I thought it was. I just posted a Tim Hortons cup in my shots. You should comment there.
