Care Package

I am a lucky lucky woman.

Not only do I have a wide and diverse group of friends who all seem happy to hear from me when I contact them after years of nothing but being CCed on group emails filled with whining and kvetching…

Not only do I have friends who open their homes to me, offer me rides to my meetings, enthuse at their friends about my projects, take me to cool and interesting lunch spots, recruit people for my projects and ask about my day when what they are doing is way more interesting and important…

Not only do I have a handsome man, who I still am stupidly-giggly in love with after 16 years…

But I get care packages
Care Package

Care packages that are bursting with love and overstuffed with the sweetest compilation of stuff to make me more comfortable, make me smile, make me miss him and give me a boost if I was feeling down. So bursting and overstuffed in fact, that the original envelope simply can’t contain them, so Canada Post has to put them in a big plastic bag to get all the pieces to the door.

A quick sampling of the contents of this particular Care Package: 2 unopened issues of Saveur, extra memory and a card reader for my camera, 2 types of tea, a set of affirmation flip cards, a sharpie, some korean instant coffee tubes, a little bag of jujubes, some incense, and a book for bedtime.

Don’t you wish you had a Gerry too?

Awww, sweet! That’s lovely and what an assortment of goodness! I’ll have to direct Kate here so that she can get some care package tips – I’m on tour for 7 weeks this summer and she and I will definitely have to exchange some long distance lovin’. Guess dirty laundry doesn’t really count as a “care package”, huh? Hmm.

well… actually… In a pathetic attempt to avoid TMI I skipped mentioning the previously-occupied teeshirt Ger sent so I could have the scent of him.
re: how sweet – isn’t Kate on the road right now?

She was, briefly! And then she came home and now we’re on the road yet again. Does it count as “jet setting” when you take the train?
re: Ger’s shirt – that is sweet. Just so long as he doesn’t want it washed and pressed by the time you get back.

re: shirt – that’s too funny for so many reasons. He’s the laundry-doer in this family.
re: travel – dude. I just got back and was looking for brunch. I hope your train trip is for fun, cause otherwise this “brunch” is bringing bad luck, so we’d better switch it to dinner – and too much red wine.

You are so RIGHT! Brunch is clearly not our meal. Dinner. Red wine. URL brainstorming.
