Good Metro & Ontario Morning.

6:18am - Already Late 6:18am – I’m already late.  Zooming down Jarvis in a cab I have just 27 minutes to get myself to CBC, through security, up to the 3rd floor studio and on air with Andy Barrie for Metro Morning to discuss the sale of TheApprenticeBlog.com on eBay.

When I crashed last night the bidding was at $733, and by morning it had risen to $911.  That means Ger is definitely getting that new laptop he needs. If the bidding goes a little higher I’ll be able to swing a trip home to visit my dad, who I haven’t seen in a year (ahem, no comments on that please… I know I’m a bad daughter)

We arrive at the CBC building and I jump out, rush in the wrong door and there’s no one at security…

I rush through the center of the building to the Front St. door, no
one there either. I call and am redirected to the John St. door, where
I sign in and am sent back to the Front St. door. I’m starting to think
that the CBC building is actually a pinball machine and I’m the ball.
Post Andy BarrieFinally I’m in the right place, and not too late.  I’m escorted up to the 3rd floor and put on the air with Andy Barrie.  We discuss TheApprenticeBlog.com,
we discuss The Donald, we discuss the viewers. I’m sure I made at least
one pithy and insightful comment, though for the life of me I don’t
know what it was.

Sadly there was no mention of CheapEats.  But I gave them the promo copies I brought anyway.  Which Andy grabbed and used as a prop when I asked for a photo to prove to roro that I did pass along her message.  That was nice!

Avril BenoitThen, as we were standing there, Avril Benoit came around the corner to invite me to fill in on Ontario Morning for a guest who cancelled.  2-for-1 interviews.  Hey, even I will get up at 5:30am for that kind of attention. (I’m not saying that getting up at 5:30 will make me on time… but I will get up.)

The interview with Avril
went swimmingly. Lots of talk about business, case studies and
monetization. Sell-sell-sell. But because I’d already given away the
books, I didn’t get a photo of her with CheapEats.  That’s okay.  She already has a library of every edition of CheapEats that has ever gone to print – because she’s been a celeb in every one.

So, I was interviewed twice, and still home by 8am to watch the
bidders go into the feeding frenzy I keep being told will happen.

Bidding is now at $1636, there’s 18 minutes & 49 seconds remaining…

We heard you on Metro Morning this morning and you were BRILLIANT!! My favourite pithy comment was about how half of the viewing audience really just tuned in to watch people in suits screwing up. HILARIOUS. And the photo of Mr. Barrie is lovely. Congratulations! And I’m sorry we missed the Avril Benoit part!

Thanks. It was pretty good for my first eBay auction I think. The irksome part was that I was contacted by 5 people in the 6 hours after the sale wheeling, dealing and offering more than the winning price because they missed the auction and wanted the site.
    ARGH!
But what we got is enough to get Ger a decent laptop – and that was my goal.
