Lex In The Sky
As part of Amex’s launch of Summerlicious, I was invited to have breakfast in the sky, 35 metres above Dundas Square.
This photo was taken by Chef Christopher Matthews. The photo I was gifted when we landed, the one by the professional photographer, was most certainly NOT above the nose. I think I’ll get chefs to shot me from now on.
It was the most invigorating breakfast I’ve every had… and one of my top 10 dining experiences so far. The food was okay, the company was great and the view was spectacular. That is when I relaxed enough to swing my chair around a bit.

Was Jennifer Valentine gracious and nice off camera?
Well, here’s the thing.
I wasn’t on the Breakfast Television table. I was on the table after that, so I didn’t get any airtime, or any Jennifer Valentine time, or the big-ass meal either.
As for comfortable… initially I wasn’t sure I was going to fit, but once I was in it was fine. Snug but fine. I think it was easier for the smaller folk to feel comfortable because they had plenty of wiggle room in their chairs.
We got Yoghurt w/ granola & berries, brioche, a mini Madelaine, a really tasty compote and a fig tarty-caky thing. An interesting breakfast but very pastry & dairy rich, a little too sweet for my tastes and no non-dairy protein… so not great for fueling me for a non-bitchy day.
I’m sorry, but I have no idea what I’m looking at. Perhaps I need to visit Toronto to know what it is you’re sitting on. Is there some giant ferris wheel overlooking Dundas Square now?

But essentially I was seated at a table with 22 other diners, strapped in and then a crane hoisted the table and all of us 35metres into the sky for breakfast. It’s an experiential dining concept called “Dinner In The Sky” which has just been launched in Canada. It was started by a Belgian company and been available in London and a handful of other cities for a while now.
I first read about it in either Bon Appetit or Saveur and have been jonesing to try it ever since.
wicked. Scary, but wicked.
