5YAT: Obsession With Ice

17 December, 2004 – WINDY!! 0º

[This post is part of the 5 Years Ago Today Series]

It’s a scientific fact – if you drink a swig of cold water after finishing a mentholated lozenge, it will feel like an icicle through the chest. It’s a fact.

Looks like the river is still iced over. Spoke with Sue on the glen-side to see what the ice is like on her shore. It looks good. She & her son have been watching the ice and will keep an eye on me whenever I attempt to cross. Inukshuk

If there is no rain I might attempt a cross tomorrow after the –14º morning. Maybe not though. It will all depend on what the ice looks like. I admit part of my “need” to get ashore is that my camera is full. Must start editing on the camera itself. Did some great studies on forming ice.

In the meantime I’m going to see what I need to setup in order to test the crossing. Which is not the same as preparing for crossing and doing stuff. Not smart to combine the two no matter how confident I am. Which I am not. Don’t want the desire to do something on shore to take risks crossing the river for the first time.

Rosemary called to let me know they were thinking of me.

Violet called. She’s been worrying about me and said she’ll thump anyone that’s not impressed by me doing this.
