Mother’s Day Throw Back Thursday

In honour of Mother’s Day, I’m sharing one of the very few photos of me, Mom and my grandmother for Throwback Thursday.
I’m not entirely sure who the lady with the white hair is, but she sure squeezed us to the edge of the frame.
I’m especially fond of how delighted we all look.  Based on family stories I bet my grandfather climbed up on something and has been posing us for a while.  Based on the reality of trying to get me to stand still for a photo, I bet this is the best he could do framing-wise.
I only remember Mother’s Day becoming important when we moved to Ontario and that it was important to my Grandmother, so we had to do it too.  Mom and I really just never got into it.  Or at least that’s how it felt to me.   I sure hope she feels the same way.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!

Mom weighed in on the other woman in the photo. She was my step-great-grandmother.  Interesting that all the way back to my grandfather, there has been a history of step-mothers.  Though both my mother’s and my grandfather’s came along after their fathers were widows and well after they were adults.
Makes one wonder a bit about the culture of step-moms.
