Time for Throwback Thursday again.
For those of you who don’t know Throwback Thursday is an Instagram meme inviting people to share photos of themselves from another time (at least 5 years ago.) You can check out what people share using the hashtags #TBT or #ThrowbackThursday. It’s a fun way to share some history and giggle at t [...]
I’ve been going through some old photos today and found this one
This is the wine I purchased for the dinner I won from Matt in November 2009. If you read the stickies you’ll see what is for the dinner and what is for later, and what I was “supposed” to put back.
But it’s the not volume of wine in this shot that gets me, it’s that it was ta [...]
This archive photo is one of my favorite pieces of graffiti art in Toronto. Unfortunately it is now tightly squeezed between the building in the shot and a newly constructed apartment building slammed up against it.
I guess it’s now hidden beauty in the layers of the city.

Dad In Red — Originally uploaded by LexnGer
This photo from the archives was used as proof that Santa does exist: to quote Duarte “he’s @alexaclark’s daddy”.
This photo was even taken of him driving a sleigh pulled by his trusty sled dogs across the river. But no sacks of presents in the sleigh, just me. T [...]
As I’m about to start another one of my odd and totally unscientific projects, I thought I’d pull this photo out of the archives.
We had a little discussion about Doritos’ fat content. Which lead to contemplating Doritos on fire Which turned into a bit of a challenge. You’d be surprised at how easy it is to get a Dori [...]
Lex in His Palm — Originally uploaded by LexnGer
It’s nice having a partner that likes to take pictures of you and thinks you are beautiful even when you are sticking out your tongue. I have a lot of similar photos of him. Though honestly he’s a lot more fun to photograph since he’s more playful and doesn’ [...]
Just over a year ago I had an amazing 7 course dinner cooked at my home by Chef Matt Kantor. How was I to know when I entered a little contest on facebook that I was about to meet one of my new favourite people?
Both the Romanesco Cauliflower and Hidden Rose Apple are unusual around here. This photo captures both the greenish colour of the R [...]

As we all start preparing, or even responding to, the snow, I thought I’d haul this one out of the archives for a little reminder of how magical winter snow can be.

Branching Out In Hemp — Originally uploaded by LexnGer
From the archives since @foodieyu was talking yarn and knitting on twitter this morning, I thought this one would be appropriate.
The pattern is called “Branching Out” and I love the finished look… though I hate knitting scarves because they always take so [...]

A couple of years ago, Ron & Mel left their car with us as the went traveling.it meant we got to venture a little further afield.
Lex & Dani — Originally uploaded by LexnGer
Today’s archival photo is from the deep dark archives occasionally known as 1980. What you see here is a 15 year old Lex and a 6 year old Danielle on the island. We’re dressed up for the annual Tea Party that my stepmother threw on the island. We were pretty cute back [...]
Boule au Chocolat — Originally uploaded by LexnGer
One of the things I miss about living in the market in Ottawa, easy access to Chocolatine or Boule au Chocolat or Chocolate Croissant… *all essentially the same.
Dremel Pumpkin Tool — Originally uploaded by LexnGer
Okay, today’s archival photo is not beautiful, it’s not over-sharey, but it is a giggle (for me at least). Complete with 10 pumpkin carving templates!
I guess the question is: does it actually work better than a knife? Anyone want to chime in here with their favou [...]
Prayer Flags — Originally uploaded by LexnGer
As I was scanning my flickr archives for today's photo I found this one of Gerry's prayer flags on our deck.
I'm not really a fan of religious trappings or parafanalia around my home, but there is something about Tibetan prayer flags that I find beautiful! I do wonder som [...]

Sweet Friday on unsweetened.ca, so I’m sharing this archival photo from my desk.A little bit of red licorice goes a long way. Not as long as a bit of black licorice, but it’s certainly a much more enjoyable trip. At least for me.
Do you prefer black or red licorice candy?
