Leg 5 – Storms, Puppy, Snow, Fires – #LexGoFurther – A Ford Escape

Prepare yourself.  I have left you waiting for the continued adventures of Lex Go Further – A Ford Escape for far too long.  It is now time for photos of the puppy interspersed with snow, food and a couple of tweets.  But mainly industrial-grade puppy cuteness. When last we spoke, I had just gotten onto a skidoo for the first time in my life to be whisked away to the island which has been a part of my life since I discovered it and claimed it for my own when I was 3. Here’s a quick summary of what was…

Foster & Spook Got Away

Foster & Spook Got Away

It has been a hard week for my friends and their beloved animals. I just heard that we lost Foster. Sadly, we didn’t just misplace him and he didn’t run away this time either.  He just got away. Early this week we lost Spook, a beautiful and strong Arabian who was loved and ridden by many. My sympathies to Fozzie’s family, both the fuzzy and less-fuzzy members.  My sympathies to Spook’s family, the jumpers, the runners, and the caretakers all. For those of you with a fuzzy friend, give them an extra squeeze today.

5YAT: Hey, Are Those Voices?

5YAT: Hey, Are Those Voices?

8 January, 2005 – Grey & Clear –10º Snapped awake at Midnight. Heard 2 male voices out my bedroom window, and then a low chuckle. It sounded like they were very close, as if they were just down the path at the School House. So I rolled out of bed onto the floor so I couldn’t be seen through the window. Got dressed and went down to see what was happening. Nothing. No dogs barking. No loud skidoos or ATVs. No voices. But it’s pitch black outside, the dogs are agitated and I am completely shot through with adrenaline. I’ve…

5YAT: Bubbling Ice, Stuck, Happy, Yappy, Nappy

12 December, 2004  Sunday – Warm & 2º [This post is part of the 5 Years Ago Today Series] Ice still in on the Glen-side – but it’s covered with water. The ice is bubbling – it’s as if the river were slightly carbonated. You can hear it clearly from the beach and it’s fascinating!  Dad suggested that if I ran down with a bottle I would have sparkling water for Xmas. Talked to a bunch of friends about their holiday parties and travel plans. I had a big wave of feeling tied down and sorry for myself. (Possibly in…

5 years ago today I woke up on an island, unsure of when I’d be able to leave. It was a good day, my father was being let out of the hospital after open-heart surgery. He was going to stay with friends who I knew loved him dearly and would take amazing care of him.  I knew that the entire community was rallying around and signing up for daddy-sitting slots because after major surgery like this people need round the clock care. I knew all I had to do was keep the fires burning, feed the dogs, chickens and rabbits…
