This week’s #tbt was new to me when I found it in a drawer in the island a week or so ago. I have never seen this photo, which is likely one of the first taken of mom and me.
I’m pretty confident that the most frequent comment about the photo over the years has been “and she hasn’t stopped talking since.”
“Don’t bother us, we’re having our tea”, says my mother as she and Travel Bunny enjoy a visit over lunch.
Today we lunched at a new spot Dim Sum Kingston.
Mom had the menu waiting by my chair to review when I arrived as one of the options for our dining adventures this visit.
We were pleasantly surprised by the food, [...]
Yes I’m on another exciting fun filled trip. This time I’ve visiting the lovely lakeside city of Kingston.
And of course I arrive at mom’s just in time for laundry.
We have big plans for the weekend and hope to hit a couple of farmers markets and the local food trucks: Farmer Girl Food, Mission Street North, & Roamin Ko [...]
I have recently started using Instagram more. After balking the trend and lamenting loudly, and frequently, about Instagram’s lack of collaborative, community-building and searching tools, I finally caved. I blame the Food Bloggers of Canada conference. Well, that and Instagram’s slick and quick interface which makes it so easy [...]
With the recent spurt of travel posts around #LexGoFurther, I have been sharing a fair number of photos of Travel Bunny, or the Travel Bunny as he is known to some. (I did warn the folks at Ford that Travel Bunny might appear in a lot of the photos.)
As a result, I’ve been getting some questions from people who haven’t met Travel Bunny befo [...]
The first step of Lex Go Further – a Ford Escape was picking up the Ford Escape.
Rannie was there when I got it to give me a run down on the Sync & MyFord Touch, Hands-free Lift Gate, and specifically the Active Park Assist Feature which I can’t imagine anyone wanting to try their own for the first time! (But more on that [...]
It’s hard to believe that at 48, after doing road trips all my life and traveling alone since I was 5, that I have never, ever been on a long-distance driving trip alone. Never just gone where and when the road took me, stopping, exploring, turning left whenever the mood strikes. I’ve always had someone with me who’d say, quite reasonably, “ [...]
The Beadery in Queen West shopping with mom for her ingredients. It’s only fair since I made her shop with me for mine.
Besides she makes such beautiful jewelery with these beads and gives much of it to me!

Wow. What a whirlwind my adventure at Diner en Blanc was!
You see, about a month ago Joel had invited me to a dinner party on Sept 27th, but the invite was kind of cryptic. “Mysterious,” I thought and immediately said “yes”.
But then life got in the way and my schedule got shifted, twisted and turned on its ear so Mom was visiting [...]
Mom does all the trying on, I sit and photograph her. Until they tell me I’m not allowed to take photos in Kaliyana. Oops.
An interesting note: Kaliyana‘s tag line is “Unique clothes for women – most guys just don’t get it – “
Though truthfully sometimes even daughters don’t get it. Their stuff [...]
It was my mother’s birthday on Monday, and unfortunately we weren’t able to be in the same place at the same time. Though I did get to drop in and see her a couple of days earlier, thanks to my friend Leona and our roadtrip to PAB.
I thought it might be fun to do a little collage of the photos I pulled together for mom’s r [...]
I’m amazed by what water can do to a slide. This shot has everything but mom washed out – and she is almost perfectly silhouetted. I recently rescued a some of my grandfather’s slides that were damaged in a basement flood.
Most of the colour had peeled & bleed off this one leaving my mother and a ghost image of [...]
25 December, 2004 – Warm & Windy
[This post is part of the 5 Years Ago Today Series]
I woke up early with a vision of a glowing golden Xmas tree in my mind. Foolish to think that Santa had come and made my Xmas morning filled with a glowing golden light.
Hell, I don’t even believe in Santa Claus cum Santa Claus – and yet I hesitated getti [...]
My mom arrives today and I’m feeling all Xmasy so I thought I’d inflict this Xmas meme on you. You can blame it on DaniGirl
As with all memes that come through my hands, I have taken liberties with the questions being asked, because, well… it’s my bl**ping blog and I can if I want to.
There are so many ways to celebrate the season, and once [...]
