Back on the Box

Back on the Box

After a long hiatus (since the day Beijing Olympics started) we have TV again. We didn't really want it. We didn't really need it. But with the upgrade to Fibe for our internet service and no change to our phone, we are getting it for $-60/month. (less a $15 setup fee). Yes, we are saving sixty bucks a month by getting TV again. What I suspect that really means is that we were getting severely screwed before or hey, we just got a great deal!  Either way, we're saving $60 a month whether we watch the Box or not. p.s.…

I Ought To Be In Pictures (Or At Least on TV)

I Ought To Be In Pictures (Or At Least on TV)

A couple of months ago there was a flurry of activity looking for someone “like a Canadian Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives“ for casting a Food Network Canada show.  At the time a number of people ask me if I knew anyone. I offered my suggestions, all the while thinking “ME, I’d be perfect!!!!” but not saying it or typing it out loud. Time passed, and the opportunity come back around.  Someone was casting for someone like Guy Fieri to host a new food show. They want someone male, 25-45, and funny…. but it seemed foolish to keep…

Seeking Simone Episode 1.1

Seeking Simone Episode 1.1

Did I mention that my friend Rosemary Rowe, of Creampuff Revolution fame, did a shoot at our apartment for her new series Seeking Simone? No? Well then I suck. Seeking Simone is a new lesbian web series about online dating. Follow the adventures of Simone Selkin as she dates her way through gay Toronto! and as Rose and Renée say on the site: Don’t fret, hets – Seeking Simone is not just for homos. It’s a comedy for anyone who’s ever dared to date – and lived to cringe forever over the tale. So check it out. It’s GREAT!  And…

We will, we will Blog you!

We will, we will Blog you!

From Rick Spence‘s Sweep! Sweep! to Rannies photomontage of the seating chart last night’s adventure in National Television has been pretty effectively blogged. Add in Ryan & Adam‘s backstage video and you’ll have the whole experience… sans the kickin’ brunch with Eden & Kate, but that was just for us. In case you didn’t know. We won!!!! The bloggers swept the whole thing: Team Captain – Samantha Bee – Won. Team Bloggers – Won. Best Individual Score – Rick Spence (and co-back row rowdy) – Won. Personally, after doing pathetically on the pre-game online Mental Gymnastic’s (I scored somewhere between…

Test The Nation Now With Lex, Kate & Rannie!

Test The Nation Now With Lex, Kate & Rannie!

The 21st century: have you been paying attention? This century is only in its first decade and already there’s a test? I know many of you don’t watch television… but would you turn on CBC if you knew I was going to be on it?  What if you knew, for certain, that I’d be doing something other than shilling CheapEats? How about if you knew that you could play along and show me up for the trivia-sluggard I truly am? Live on television, I’ll be competing with 35 other Bloggers on Test The Nation: Trivia, a national quiz show where…

QotD: I Should’ve Been A Contender

QotD: I Should’ve Been A Contender

What gameshow or reality show would you kick butt on? Um, didn’t we already answer this? QotD: Reality TV Star But I’ll reiterate the relevant bit: For the highest probability of winning, and at that it’s still pretty low, I’d have to say either: Survivor - cuz really, I’ve already spent 47 days living alone on a island… in Winter! Alone! Though I might lose  due to the inter-personal skills issue, so perhaps Average Joe – cuz really, how can you lose?

QotD: Set Your DVR

Have I mentioned my slight addiction to television.  I really am trying to break the habit. Step 1 - sell my tv blog Step 2 - TIVO the hell out of all the new shows and try and keep my opinions to myself. What TV show(s) will you be watching this season? Why? Submitted by ducnly.vox.com. Ferrets on a Panel Truck

Ferrets on a Panel Truck

The best interview I’ve seen in months. Possibly years!  I still don’t want to see the movie, but I’d have Mr. Jackson over for drinks any day of the week! Thanks go out to Junkii for catching me off guard with it first thing this morning, and june for reminding me, post-coffee, of how damned amusing the whole thing was. Samuel L. Jackson on The Daily Show

He’s In MY Fridge

He’s In MY Fridge

After Kate pointed out that it was possible he was reporting from her fridge, I set up my camera with an LED and a motion detector. Watch out… he might be in your fridge next.

Plight of the Pickle

Please, please, please tell me someone else saw that Alien news report last night on the plight of the poor pickle imprisoned in glass within the dark, cold isolation of the fridge. I hope this is a series, and that whatever genius thought of it gets much credit… though I couldn’t find any mention of it on technorati. Sadly I only caught the tail end of this ad, and was distracted too…. so I don’t remember the brand.  But you know I’d be all over their site today if they’d included an url. Hey, Ken Schafer, give these guys a…

The Apprentice Blog – Season 5

Yes, in the midst of all this craziness, Season 5 of the Apprentice launched last night.  When I checked my email this morning I already had over 8000 ApprenticeBlog readers, including one asking why I hadn’t published my opinions of the first episode… it had been 12 hours already and he was waiting. Some days I wonder exactly how I get myself into these situations… and then I remember – "oh yes, I’m a complete nutbar!" Off to continue building those press kits (Yes, Miss Carol even I leave my press kits to the absolute last minute, and pray my…
