One of the great things about the new office is that a short walk through St James park takes me to the St Lawrence Market. That means todays lunch is almost the same as the lunches I had working in the Saint John City Market when I was a kid.
Dad would send me for bread (today from Caro [...]
When I was home, Di & Deb picked me up early Saturday morning for a visit to the Kingston Farmers Market. What great fun we had visiting old friends like Clark & Sue and checking out the cool foods. As with most Farmers Markets this is evolving quickly into a place to go and eat as well as shop.

Snapped this at the Waterloo Farmer’s Market, which people keep insisting on calling the St. Jacob’s Market. Which always confuses the hell out of me since I’ve been going there since 1983.
This photo was taken of the preserves at a stall run by an older Mennonite gentleman. It was one of the stalls in the Mennonite [...]
I’ve told you before that I used to sell organic vegetables at the Saint John City Market when I was a little girl. These were our partners – the other family we ran the stall with and part of the village that raised me.
Got the camera back, now the laptop is inaccessible… However, my friends still rock.

We hit the St. Lawrence Market North Building on Saturday and market politics hung heavy over the place. It’s common for markets to be embroiled intra-market issues, but it’s uncommon to see so much of it when you’ve just dropped by for a little shopping.
Note: I didn’t actually run into any politics at this boo [...]
Tried to catch this through the window of a moving car… wasn’t really sharp, so I mucked about with Picassa to make it ?better?
I’d love your feedback on what I’ve done and what I could have done. One of my personal favourites from last year.
I was able to keep it to 4 ways primarily because, as the umbrellas says, “Merde il pleut“.
Well, that and the “Character of the day” lady who chatted through my entire breakfast. More on that later.
Yesterday was my Day in Hull, in my attempt to do a different neighbourhood every day.
The rain started as I hi [...]
Well, I’ve gotten sucked into Vox and posted a bunch of stuff there. Partially because I was testing it, partially because it was so damned easy. But unsweetened.ca had to make due with hand-me down posts…
So, isn’t it time for some fresh, just for unsweetened.ca content? Yes it is.
Yesterday was market day for me. I ha [...]
After significant arm-twisting, nagging and pleading, Sam allowed as how we could come over for dinner Saturday night. She’d even let us cook. So Gerry planned a baked pasta featuring sausages, peppers and beans… oh so very tasty! I spent the morning working at Cafe Java U on St.Denis where they had wireless. (30 minutes free fo [...]
Gerry is in heaven – Atwater Market Heaven. So many cheese shops, so little time. Cheeses, beers, cute cheese girls, free samples to charming anglo-men with sparkling blue eyes, how could he not love it?

These were full before Gerry arrived and start [...]
