#100 Just Write aka Someone’s In The Kitchen with Lexa
For my final NaBloPoMo post I thought it was time to share why I needed a bio. Especially since… [drum roll please]
I’ve been invited to be the Toronto correspondent for In The Kitchen, a Vancouver-based food blog published by Industrial Brand Creative.
You may remember my ill-fated brush with street meat on CBC’s Sounds Like Canada. Well, one of the other panelists was Mark Busse, founding principal and Design Director at Industrial Brand Creative and a serious foodie/epicure/gourmand.
A couple of weeks ago, Mark hit town for a conference and asked if I’d be interested in meeting up for a drink and a nosh. That simple request had us wandering the streets of Toronto for hours. Then we hit the Gerrard Street Bazaar where we sat sipping beer and savouring naan & lamb straight from the tandoor while we shared the influences that caused us to develop into foodies.
About a week later, Mark wrote and invited me to be a writer for In The Kitchen – a space where I can blog about food above and beyond CheapEats (which will certainly pop up on occasion).
I’m excited and honoured to be joining the In The Kitchen team and the opportunity to share some of our best recipes, discuss culinary urges, wax poetic about my favourite spice shops and document the oft-threatened, never-manifested cheese hajj with Jenn.
Watch for my first post in the next few days, and check out my bio on the Contributor Page.
[UPDATE – the site has been rebranded as Foodists.ca, you can see my posts here and my bio on the Contributor Page]
Wow – that’s excellent! Yay you!
Great bio btw! 🙂
Hey, doesn’t sound so much ill-fated if it brings a cool opportunity like this along! Congrats! 🙂 Sounds right up your alley.
Hi Lex–congrats on this new opportunity! I’ll be sure to check it out. I also wanted to say ‘thanks’ for your having posted about NaBloPoMo a month ago…I didn’t officially sign up for it, but I thought I’d give the whole posting every day for a month thing a shot, and it turns out I had a lot more fun with my blog(s) than I’ve had in a very long time.
Thanks guys!
I’m really excited – so excited in fact I have a little analysis-paralysis. But I’m working my first post – about soup no less.
Eliezer – it’s all about having fun. I’m really glad to hear that’s how it worked out!
Wohoo! So awesome! And there will be trips to Vancouver for “creative meetings”, right? So we can hang out? Congrats!!!
“Ahem. You mean like we hung out on your recent trip to TO?” she says arching an eyebrow.
But seriously, I hope so! We’re going to get CEVan rolling, so I’m hoping we’ll be coming west more often.
Tres kewl!
Fantastic bio! And the blog looks like lots of fun! And your picture is cute.
French Onion Soup
With the weather turning colder and the snow starting to blow about, it’s time to whip up a batch of French Onion Soup to warm the soul. Serves 4-6 as an appetizer or 2 as a meal. 2 Tbsp butter 2 Tbsp oil 1 lb onions – thinly sliced 1 tsp sugar – optio…
Check it out — my first post on In The Kitchen is up!!!
50 Things To Eat Before You Die
As my second post to In The Kitchen, I thought I’d use the BBC’s Reader Poll of 50 Things To Eat Before You Die as a way to introduce myself. I scored 44/50. Not bad, but I still need to try 11. Moreton Bay Bugs, 22. Kangaroo, 32. Guinea pig, 36. Barra…
