HoHoTO – The Most Amazing Thing

In my life I have been involved in some amazing things. I have watched groups come together with a common purpose to create businesses, build homes, and buy islands.  I am always blown away by the creative energy, passion and cooperation these groups display in making these things happen.

Over the last 2 weeks, I have been lucky enough to be a part of another amazing endeavour – – a holiday party with proceeds going to .

Or as Rob said:

It’s for geeks, phreaks, webheads, twitterfiends, techies, media, marketing, and PR types and all their friends. And everyone else! DJ’s, interactive media, and loads of holiday cheer, all for a great cause!

hohoto

has captured the imaginations and generosity of Toronto’s tech and social media community.  2 weeks ago the event didn’t exist and now almost $23,000 has been raised for the and the event is completely sold out, all 600 tickets.

The most shocking part is that all the planning has happened in 2 weeks, almost entirely online using new and fairly limiting technology, and by committee.

But what an amazing committee.  Everyone stepping up to do what they can, help where they can and make decisions when they need to be made… and somehow that is resulting in good ideas evolving to great ideas, very little wasted effort,  Ts getting crossed and Is dotted.

The party is tomorrow night and I’m excited to see what all this work will bring us.  The one thing I do know is that there are a lot of people in Toronto who will have food on their table because of everyone who is involved in, attending and donated to #hohoto.

And that is a most amazing and wonderful thing.

HoHo!
