5YAT: Raining but Excellent Beans.

13 December, 2004 – 0º- Snow & Rain & Grey

[This post is part of the 5 Years Ago Today Series]

Snowing when I woke (late!). The fire was out – damned wet wood!  One would think I don’t know what I’m doing. But yet – the fire only fights me on warm days.

100_1782I’m waiting for a bit cooler weather before attempting to split much more of that wood – the 30”+ diameter logs. How I’ve been splitting any of it is a wonder!

Raining, raining, raining. Ice on both sides of the island – but for the first time in a week it looks like there may be open water on the glen-side. Of course it could just be water ON the ice from all the rain.

Saw a shadow bunny under a tree today hiding from the rain. The chickens were all wet and tucked into the chicken house. Everyone was wet and more than just slightly disgruntled.

Baked the remaining bread in the fire. Reheated the beans and whipped up some coleslaw. Excellent dinner, I did well with those beans. Feeling better but I wish that it was warmer or colder. Certainly solider.
