Social Mix 2012

It’s becoming a habit, when I return from the island I go almost immediately to a conference. This time it was Social Mix 2012 put on by Jugnoo which brought me out of my island-mode and immediately into the crowds of smart, inspiring and fascinating people.

The conference, which also functioned as a fundraiser for The Remix Project, was great.  Really engaging and charismatic speakers talking about social from a strong business perspective.  My kind of conversations.

I loved the fact that both Amber Mac, in her opening key note, and Gary Vaynerchuk, in his closing key note, talked about their roots working in their family businesses.  Showing, rather than telling, that entrepreneurship requires an ability to work hard and a willingness to, not-so-metaphorically, pick up the trash and wash the bottles.
