Happy Pi Day To Mathies, Bookies and Normals Alike.

It’s Pi Day again!

This year with the release of Life of Pi the movie, you can now celebrate mathematically, culinary, literarily or cinematically.  Check out Life of Pi in it’s two forms, Pie in it’s many forms and contemplate the most popular of all irrational numbers.

I didn’t plan right this year and so I can’t  indulge in a pie with every meal today.  But of course I’ll be on the look out for pie options for lunch and dinner.

Strawberry Rhubard Pie

For Pi Day, I like to stretch my definition a little so I’m not just eating big slices of yumminess, lard and sugar for each meal. Though sometimes a girl has to do what a girl has to do to honour her mathie and foodie roots.

Meringue Ribbons

I like to be flexible and include things like turnovers, tarts, pizza pie, empanada… essentially anything with a pastry crust and a filling, or “Pi” in it’s name will suffice.

Some of my favourites pies have been Mal’s Lemon Meringue, Di’s Strawberry Rhubarb , Mal’s berry pot pie, Matt’s Peach & Pork Belly Pie, and of course any wild blueberry or cherry pie I can get my greedy hands on.

Peach and Pork Belly Pie

What kind of pie is your favourite? Sweet or savoury, fruit or cream pies, quiche or tourtiere?

alexgill Do you like cinnamon in your apple pie or do you like it “pure”. I’ve had many a debate about spicing apple pies. #PiDay
