Who is this Travel Bunny?

With the recent spurt of travel posts around #LexGoFurther, I have been sharing a fair number of photos of Travel Bunny, or the Travel Bunny as he is known to some.  (I did warn the folks at Ford that Travel Bunny might appear in a lot of the photos.)

Bunny Wave

As a result, I’ve been getting some questions from people who haven’t met Travel Bunny before.

Questions like:

  • Who is this Travel Bunny?
  • What is Travel Bunny’s name?
  • Where did Travel Bunny come from?
  • How did he become the Travel Bunny?
  • How long have you had Travel Bunny?
  • Where has Travel Bunny been?

I figured I would clear things up and answer the FAQ about Travel Bunny.

Bunny In A Bag

Who is this Travel Bunny?

Travel Bunny is my travelling companion who has traveled the world with me.

What is Travel Bunny’s name?

um… his name is Travel Bunny. Sometimes we call him Bunny or Bun for short.

Where did Travel Bunny come from?

You can read the full story here: The Story of The Travel Bunny, but the short of it is that my mother bought him for me one Easter when I was in university.

How did he become the Travel Bunny?

He officially became the Travel Bunny when I had to explain exactly why I was traveling with a stuffed rabbit to my boss on a business trip.

Ready to fly

Imagine being on your first international speaking engagement as a young professional, and your boss coming out of his hotel room to find you explaining to a cleaning lady that they had taken away your stuffed bunny rolled up in the bed linens.  Travel Bunny got an instant promotion in stature to justify his importance.

Luckily my boss, Shawn, had a good sense of humour and was already used to my idiosyncrasies, and helped me find Bunny and get to our next meeting on time.

Shawn, I don’t know if I ever thanked you for making this a funny not devastating experience – but thank you.

How long have you had Travel Bunny?

I just did a quick calculation and Google search, and realized that I got Travel Bunny on April 4, 1988.  Which means that in a couple of weeks he will have been travelling with me for 25 years! Wow

So Easy Even Travel Bunny Can Use It

Where has Travel Bunny been?

3 continents: North America, Europe and Africa. He’s been to the Caribbean, obviously to Nashville, and even to the Ottawa General when they took out my appendix (thank you Jonathan.)
St. Lawrence River

He’s looking forward to exploring Asia and South America and catching up with family and friends living there, and while he did meet some penguins in Cape Town, he’d love to visit Antarctica!

Travel Bunny comes with me, but sometimes he gets into adventures without me

And he definitely makes friends

So, do I answer your questions?  Do you feel like you know Travel Bunny a little better?

If not, feel free to ask any questions I have left unanswered, and while you are at it why not tell me about your travel companions.

Matt Kantor Oh right, sorry. I get confused sometimes. When I praise the guy who did all that driving in Spain I should remember that was your impersonator too right?

He feels like such an old friend now–though I have yet to meet him fur to face.
