My Friend Matt Opens His Restaurant and I’m missing it! It’s killing me!

We’ve talked about it for a long time and it’s finally happening. On July 11th Matt Kantor and Andrew Bridgman are opening Bero. I couldn’t be happier for them (and frankly for us.)

Since we met Matt has been planning this, talking concepts and drawing sketches. He has made me salivate with his menu ideas and test dishes. He has talked me through venues, layouts and alternatives. It has been fascinating to watch from the sidelines as this day has approached.  I even snuck in a couple of times as they were getting setup and met some of the team. Though I haven’t seen it ready to serve.
So great to see @mattkantor in a great space. Can't wait to see #Bero when it opens on July 10

And I feel like a bad friend for missing the launch.

So here’s what you can do to help me out:

  • send me photosBero is at the south-east corner of Queen and Logan (889 Queen Street East to be exact) drop-in, drive by, hold your cell phone out of the TTC and snap a photo or two and plunk it up on facebook, twitter (@alexaclark) or instagram (@lexnger) for me to gawk at. Slap on the hashtag #Bero just for good measure too.
  • tell me all about it – what did you eat? how did it taste? what did you pair it with? what should I try first?

I know it’s asking a lot, but I’m just so damned nosy and I can’t wait!

Disclosure: Matt is my friend, and co-conspirator in the Secret Pickle, and I love his food. Seriously. (Okay, not the parsnips… but you know what I think of parsnips.)
