Sick Flicks – What To Watch When You Are Sick

I’ve spent the better part of the last 2 days curled up popping echinacea with a hot mug of NeoCitran, a big box of kleenex and Netflix.   With my duvet wrapped around me and pillows propping me up, I scroll through the endless movies options but I seem to find myself watching schlock!  Usually Chick Flicks & Rom-Com schlock.

Help me internet friends! I need something better to entertain and heal me! I need quality Sick Flicks!

Sick days suck.

The problem is that when I’m sick all I want to do is sleep.  But there’s a point where you’ve slept almost enough but you aren’t well enough to actually do anything.  You try and get up but even sitting at the computer is exhausting.

My eyes are too sore from congestion to read, so I need something to keep my brain active.  I’m too congested to follow anything that’s too taxing, and too demanding to watch anything that is too lame.

Okay, I admit that last statement might not be true.  In fact, I’m sure I’m lying to you since in the last 48 hours I have watched the following: Guilt Trip, This Means War, Monster in Law, Midnight Cowboy,  Something Borrowed and The Big Year.

I’ve even thrown in a couple of episodes of House of Lies and Lie to Me.

I need stuff that is entertaining and engaging but no so entertaining that I force myself to stay awake. It can’t be too taxing because my congested head just won’t follow the turns and twists. And when I finally do drift off I don’t want to be jolted awake by big explosions and lots of yelling.

Argh!  And writing this has tired me back out.  Time to crawl back into bed and find something again.

Suggestions! I  need non-schlock (or even slightly less schlocky suggestions!)

Sick Flicks – what do you watch when you are sick?

    Hey Alexa!
I think you should watch The Burbs with Tom Hanks! One of my favourite comedies. I would not recommend it if you have a soar throat as you will be laughing quite a bit. After that try 24 the TV show! Once you start you won’t stop!
I hope you have an endless supply of freshly squeezed orange juice and hope you feel better soon! 🙂

Hmmm, I am not sure what you think of as schlock, but when I am sick I tend toward the “Young Women Do Fun Stuff” genre – Bend It Like Beckham, Bring It On, Pitch Perfect.  Unless I am *really* sick and I need Dirty Dancing and Dead Poets Society.

@Wendy I’m definitely in that category too. Though I find the “young women” sometimes getting a little young.  I’m a bit long in the tooth these days to thinks wistfully back to high school days. It’s just kind of creepy.

BhuDeo Thanks!  I’m a fan of Tom in his whacky funny days but I’ve missed that one. Queuing it up.

What do you think?
