Second Harvest Appoints Alexa Clark and Cheri Dueck Co-Chairs of Toronto Taste 2014
The big news I’ve been teasing you with is finally public – I have been appointed Co-Chair of Toronto Taste 2014!
Second Harvest has appointed Alexa Clark and Cheri Dueck Co-Chairs of Toronto Taste 2014. Now in it’s twenty-fourth year, Toronto Taste, presented by The Daniels Corporation, is the city’s premier culinary event and single largest fundraiser for Second Harvest.
Taking place on Sunday, June 8, lakeside at Corus Quay, Toronto Taste will feature 70 of the city’s top chefs and celebrated beverage purveyors all coming together to share their love of food and raise funds to support Second Harvest’s food rescue program. Alexa and Cheri will lead a team of dedicated volunteers in supporting the Second Harvest team as they plan the ultimate culinary experience of the year for Toronto’s food lovers.

As you know, hunger and hunger awareness are important issues to me and Second Harvest has been an organisation I’ve supported for years. The work that Second Harvest does in food recovery to fight hunger and food waste means that hungry Torontonians get fed every day with good food that would otherwise be wasted.
My first experience with Toronto Taste was as a guest in 2007 at the Japanese Cultural Center and I was blown away by the experience – the food, the drink, the Chefs, the conversation, the fun and all while raising money to help our community with the pervasive issue of hunger.
I started volunteering with Second Harvest in 2008 when I was invited to join the Toronto Taste Steering Committee. For the last couple of years, I’ve been leading the Social Media for Toronto Taste and Co-Chairing the Communications Committee with Anna Withrow.
It’s a great honour to be invited to take a larger role, as Co-Chair, and to work with the Second Harvest team and Cheri Dueck
My Co-Chair Cheri Dueck has been involved with Toronto Taste since 2007 and brings leadership and experience in the hospitality industry. Yesterday’s 2 hour call discussing the city’s best restaurants and Ontario’s exciting and growing beverage industry was just the start of what is shaping up to be a dynamic partnership.
I’m also looking forward to another exciting and tasty evening with incredible chefs, restaurants, beverage companies, sponsors, volunteers and guests all coming together on one night to make a huge difference in our city.
So, prepare yourself to hear about Toronto Taste a little more than usual and get your tickets now, it’s going to be an incredible event in a new spectacular venue lakeside at Corus Quay.
