Chicken Wing Success – Pork Ninjas at Wenona Lodge
You may remember my craving for chicken wings earlier this year. It comes in around the same time every year and for me it’s the crispy, sticky, meaty, hands-on experience accompanied by cold fresh beer that drives this craving.
So when I called out to the universe that I NEEDED WINGS, the universe provided in the form of Jason Rees of Kitchen by Pork Ninjas. Jason said that if I gave him a date and time he would give me wings. And boy did he deliver!
I showed up with 18 of my nearest and dearest Public Picklers and we ordered Jason’s entire wing night menu. Every single item.
They serve wings on their regular menu, but Jason and crew had prepared 3 styles and 15 flavours of wings… And man-oh-man did we have a feed.
Jason’s menu always had wings on it – smoked and sauces. But he and his team went over and above playing with flavours.
My favourite was the boneless wings with alabama white sauce. Oh my.
While the menu doesn’t usually include this whole range of wing options, Jason’s barbecue is some of the best I’ve had. Well worth a visit to Wenona Lodge, Kitchen by Pork Ninjas
Update on Pork Ninjas
[While this post has been marinating, Jason has announced that Pork Ninjas is leaving Wenona on May 27th. It has been going well and Jason is looking for a new popup location and partnership. If you are looking for BBQ for an upcoming event, also check out their catering here. To quote Jason “If you love my bbq please come by in the next few weeks.” ]
The Kim Chi Wings were AWESOME!
They went so quickly I didn’t get a chance to try those ones. (Plus the Kim Chi ones were for you anyway!) Every wing I tried (almost all the rest) were fantastic.
