Vote for ME as Char Champion

Recently I saw something float by on social media, a call to enter the Char Champion competition. The winner gets a guest judging spot and a VIP Experience for two at the World Series of Barbecue, a customized Cimarron smoker trailer from Yoder Smokers, $5,000 cash, and a cover feature on Barbecue News Magazine. Sounds like the kind of competition I would LOVE to win!

I think the fact they used this as the “cover” photo for my voting page is telling.

People submitted their photos and optional write-ups. I did. Then I completely forgot until I got a text letting me know voting was starting soon.

Ooops… I forgot I entered!

Voting goes in waves based on the winners from individual groups. There are lots of very interesting people participating. (vote for me) And you can vote every single day using your Facebook credentials.

Yes, It’s essentially a BBQ Popularity contest.

With all these folks in my photos, I should get more popular, right?

Now, they also have a pay-to-vote method – “Spicy BBQ Vote”. But while they say a portion of the proceeds will go to the James Beard Foundation. I’d prefer you NOT to pay to vote. Hire me instead (I’m actively looking for new clients).
