In The Kitchen w/ Lex: French Onion Soup
[Update – since this post went up, In The Kitchen has been rebranded to Foodists.ca all the links in the post below have been changed appropriately]
My first post is up and coming to a rolling boil on In The Kitchen!
It’s my recipe for French Onion Soup, and if I may say, it rocks. On a cold and blustery day, it’ll warm you to your toes. It’s easy, fairly quick, filling and oh so tasty.
When I set it up for review, Ben asked if I wanted to include a little more about me in my first post. Rather than waiting another week to get a replacement post drafted, I decided to start slow and publish this as is. I’ll save sharing for post #2. (Which, to be fair, is already to publish now too.)
As you can probably tell, I’m pretty excited about this and expect to be posting once or twice a week on In The Kitchen.
I hope you’ll take a minute and join me there too. Perhaps you’ll leave a friendly comment or two, or even add us to your RSS reader.
Now I feel so … what’s the word? inadequate? … with my own “lazy” approach: 1 can beef broth. Water. Sliced onion. Boil for an hour. Lightly toast some bread; cut into cubes. Put soup in bowl; add bread cubes. Top with pre-grated cheese.
Damn! You mean I went to all that work for nothing?
Not at all! My only point was that I’m a lazy cook. Your recipe looks much tastier. My version looks more like, say, cooking hot dogs.
Or, to put it another way: If I’m cooking for someone else, I’d more than likely use your recipe. If it’s just for myself, I’ll be lazy. Maybe that’s why I eat out so much?
